NSU Students Win Art Awards

NSU art students won twelve awards in the annual Northeast Oklahoma Area Artists Exhibition. The exhibition was held in early October at the Graham Community Building in Pryor with an awards reception on September 30th. The show was judged by Mark Sisson, a Professor of Art at Oklahoma State University. In the exhibition program Sisson remarked, “Patrons of this exhibition should be proud that members of their community host an annual show of this caliber. It does credit to Pryor that one doesn’t have to travel to Tulsa, Dallas, or Kansas City to see really fine artwork.”
Nancy Crandall, a double art major, won second place in the adult painting category for her piece “Little Big Planet”. She also received two honorable mentions in the adult graphics category and one honorable mention in the adult sculpture category. National Recognition in Watercolor

Professor Lance Hunter’s painting "Beneath the Surface" received a major award in the 63rd Annual Exhibition of the Texas Watercolor Society at the San Antonio Art League Museum in June. The juror for TWS was Steve Doherty, the former editor-in-chief of American Artist magazine for 31 years.
