Two oil paintings by Lance Hunter were chosen for the MOAK 2012-4 State Exhibition opening at the Springfield Art Museum on November 17th. The MOAK exhibition was open to artists residing in Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. The exhibition has been held since 1990 at the museum.
The juror for the 2012 exhibit was Kevin Murphy, the Curator of American Art at the Crystal Bridges Museum in Arkansas. Seventy-three artists were selected by Murphy for the exhibit. Hunter was one of only five artists selected from Oklahoma and one of only six artists selected to have more than one piece included in the exhibit. The two oil paintings by Hunter, “Continental Drift” and “Without Reason” will be on display at the museum until January 13, 2013. Previously, a watercolor by Hunter was purchased from the Watercolor USA National Exhibition for the permanent collection of the Springfield Art Museum in 2010 .

NSU Students' Art in Momentum
Momentum: Art Doesn’t Stand Still is an annual exhibition in Tulsa that features Oklahoma artists 30 years and younger, working in all media including 2-D and 3-D art, film, installations, performance and more. Momentum Tulsa 2012 featured the work of two NSU art students. “The Last Supper” an oil on canvas painting by Aubrey Jensen received an Award of Merit from the jurors and a Viewer’s Choice Award. “Brain Flowers” a woodblock print by Danielle Ford was also selected for this year’s exhibition. Both students are Fine Art majors at NSU. An oil painting entitled, “Lying Figure with Standing Chair” by NSU Art alumnus, Kaylee Huerta was also featured in the exhibition.

Held each year in Oklahoma City in March and Tulsa in October, the Momentum exhibition is presented as a diversified look at emerging artistic talent in Oklahoma. The exhibition was curated by a panel of art professionals in a competitive selection process. The Momentum exhibition was held at the Living Arts Gallery in downtown Tulsa from October 13th- 25th.

NSU Students Win Art Awards
NSU art students won twelve awards in the annual Northeast Oklahoma Area Artists Exhibition. The exhibition was held in early October at the Graham Community Building in Pryor with an awards reception on September 30th. The show was judged by Mark Sisson, a Professor of Art at Oklahoma State University. In the exhibition program Sisson remarked, “Patrons of this exhibition should be proud that members of their community host an annual show of this caliber. It does credit to Pryor that one doesn’t have to travel to Tulsa, Dallas, or Kansas City to see really fine artwork.”
Nancy Crandall, a double art major, won second place in the adult painting category for her piece “Little Big Planet”. She also received two honorable mentions in the adult graphics category and one honorable mention in the adult sculpture category. The graphics category included drawing, pastels, ink and printmaking. Emily Schmidt won second place in the adult graphics category for her piece “Catechism” and an honorable mention in the adult painting category. April Ussery, received third place in the adult photography category and an honorable mention in the adult graphics category. Sydney Neri, won third place in the adult painting category for her piece “Hand and Harm”. Art education major, Erin Owen received third place in the adult graphics category for her piece titled “The Clairvoyant”. Vera Eidson, a fine art major, received two honorable mentions in the adult painting category.
Sylvia Nitti, an instructor of art at NSU, was the winner of the Best of Show award in the Northeast Oklahoma Artists Exhibition for her pastel piece entitled, “The Fountain”. She also received first place in the professional graphics category for her piece titled “Girl in Water” and third place in the professional painting category for her piece titled “The Raven”. First place in the professional painting category went to Lance Hunter, an Associate Professor of Art at NSU, for his piece titled “Continental Drift”. Lance also received two honorable mentions in the adult painting category.
National Recognition in Watercolor
Professor Lance Hunter’s painting "Beneath the Surface" received a major award in the 63rd Annual Exhibition of the Texas Watercolor Society at the San Antonio Art League Museum in June. The juror for TWS was Steve Doherty, the former editor-in-chief of American Artist magazine for 31 years.
This summer, Hunter also had work selected for the 2012 National Watercolor Society’s Member Exhibition held at the NWS Gallery in San Pedro, California. NWS is one of the top two watercolor societies in the nation and the juried exhibition featured the work of 92 artists from across the United States. Hunter is a signature member of NWS and the only artist selected for this exhibit from the state of Oklahoma.
His painting entitled "Carmen" was selected for the postcard invitation promoting the Watercolor NOW 2012 National Exhibition at the Springfield Art Museum in Missouri. A watercolor by Hunter was also selected for the Louisiana Watercolor Society’s 42nd Annual International Exhibition held in May in New Orleans, Louisiana. Later in the summer, Hunter's watercolor "Decaying Orbit" was selected by Miranda Lash, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the New Orleans Museum of Art for the Watercolor USA 2012 National Exhibition at the Springfield Art Museum.

2012 Addy Winners

This years 45th Annual Addy Awards marked a ground breaking historial marker for the students here at NSU. Lots of time, hard work, and determination has led this elite group of creative designers into the spot light, yet again.
This years winners include;
Lindsay Sinclair, Addy Award for her Packaging design for Rose Regale Wine. A Citation of Excellence for her Lava Soap Magazine Campaign. And the Judges Choice Award, this is a very special award because it has never been given to any student in History of the Tulsa Addy Awards!

NSU ADDY WINNERS 2012
Hello all! I am very happy to inform you of the winners of the 45 Annual Addy Awards. It is with great honor to be among such great creative people receiving this years award.
One of this years winners is Lindsay Sinclair, this will be Lindsay's second Local Gold Addy. The newest addition of the Addy family include B.J. Foreman, William Blackfox, Pelema Kolise, Garrett Prentice, and Jonni Ketcher. Congratulations to all the new winners! This years Addy Awards will be held at the prestigious Mayo Hotel, located in downtown Tulsa Saturday, January 21, 2012. This is a special year for the Addy Award celebration, honoring the Advertising Club of Tulsa and it's 75th anniversary. Again, Congratulations to this years Local Addy Winners!
